what have i been up to since may--well, started at boston university, got out of engineering, went undecided, now am doing religion and anthropology.  It's going to be tough, but maybe a minor in pholosophy if i can do it all in 4.5 yrs.

most importantly, I DON'T WANT TO BE IGNORANT ANYMORE!

started playing rugby, and have worked up to the a-side. i feel that it is a decent effort after having never touched a rugby ball until i set foot in boston in september. it's a good game, i really feel alive putting everything on the line, taking risks, and dumping out sweat and blood for my teamates.
we will be traveling a lot in the fall season and are currently working on a four game tour in dublin during spring break.
have started to go to mass again on a regular basis, and have found much happiness from that.
all is good.
that's all i got.

wow, it's been a whole month since i have blogged. in the past month i have formed a new relationship with a member of the opposite sex, officially became a part of boston university's entering freshman class, graduated from high school, traded in an old automobile for a newer one, planted grapes for a vineyard for a week, was rehired at a grain elevator (better pay over last summer also) for the wheat harvest, and have really done some serious thinking about my faith life, the direction i am headed, the crux of life's philosophies, etc.
i am one who likes to self-examine myself, regularly though not frequently, and i am quite impressed at how productive this past month has been for me.

I am back from boston. i had a great trip. i have officially committed to b.u. i have also officially accepted every dollar they have offered me in need- and merit-based aid. I have also recieved some money from the first national bank of valentine, ne.  if i can manage to keep a 3.0 gpa i will have roughly 85% of my college expenses paid for (including roam and board mind you), the rest will be covered in federally subsidized loans. oh yeah, the city kicks ass. i have an especially soft spot in my heart for southie.
it's good to be back. drew.

unfortunately, all the big hubbub if you will is focused on a movie based on one perspective on a death taken from a book that has been translated numerous times.

it's a shame that a movie about the man's LIFE isn't made. i suppose it wouldn't sell or please hollywood or whatever. it is, after all, Jesus's life that matters much more to christians than his death. his ascention obviously also, but from what i hear that isn't touched on at all at the end of the movie.

i have no desire to see one man's interpretation of a story translated multiple times across more than one language family. especially something in which the emphasis is incorrectly placed.

blood and gore doesn't help much either.

anyone who believes that a movie about the passion (from latin passio, meaning suffering) is somewhat anti-semitic obviously has their own agenda. it really is just history people, it just has to be dealt with.

the other option, rather than calling the passion history is to dismiss it has fiction. those that believe it is fiction shouldn't care anyway.

there. problem solved!
